So long as you can utilize the travel credit every year, you’re getting a few additional benefits over the Venture card for the same effective annual fee. If I had to choose between the Venture X Rewards Card and the Venture Card, I’d lean towards the Venture X Rewards Card. That being said, for the first year you can easily get more value than what you’re spending for the annual fee in credits.
The fact that most of its bonus categories require you to spend through Capital One travel makes it little less than a glorified Capital One® Venture® Credit Card with a few more benefits. Overall, this is a decent travel rewards card. Miles earned on your card will transfer to most partners 1:1, giving you more flexibility to use your rewards.
